The Lactation Committee of the Spanish Association of Pediatrics and the World Health Organization recommend breastfeeding as the best food for the baby during the first 6 months of life. They even advise that the mother continue to breastfeed the child along with the appropriate feeding for his age until 2 years of age. Not only is it the most complete food that the mother can give her child, but it is also highly beneficial for both the baby and the mother due to its properties.

Milk contains all the nutrients that the baby needs for its proper development during the first months of life, but the great advantage of breastfeeding is also that protects the baby against colds, meningitis, otitis, bronchioliths, pneumonia or diarrhea among some diseases.

Another benefit of breast milk for babies is that its effects do not occur only during the breastfeeding period, but it has been shown that can protect long term adults with allergies, obesity, colitis, some cancers or asthma.

Breastfeeding is also beneficial for the mother. Moms who breastfeed lose the weight they have gained throughout pregnancy more quickly as the baby uses up its fat stores, which are transmitted from the mother to the baby in the milk at the end of each feeding. In addition, it also protects women against anemia, hypertension and even less postpartum depression. Studies show that women who have breastfed have lower risk of breast cancer and ovary and osteoporosis.

Breast milk is not only beneficial for the baby and the mother, too it is useful for society usually:

- The milk produced by the mother does not need any elaboration process, neither packaging, nor transport. There is no energy expenditure and there is no manufacturing process involved that is polluting for the environment. Breastfeeding is therefore ecological.

- It is even economically advantageous for the familyYou do not have to invest a large amount of money per year in artificial milk, bottles, bottle warmers, special cleaners or the energy necessary to sterilize all the baby's material.

- Savings can be extrapolated to the society that will have less spending on public health since babies breastfed by their mothers go to the pediatrician less because they suffer from fewer diseases.
